Lanai Snorkeling Tour
After finding a free parking spot at Whalers Village, we knew it was going to be a good day. Check in time was at 7:15am in front of Leilani's. They have an umbrella located right on beach with the name of their company on it. Pretty easy to find. Shortly after arriving, we hoped on a little Zodiac that took us from the beach to the "Big Kahuna" boat. Once entering on the Big Kahuna boat, the captain and crew were there to greet us and to help everyone on board. The boat is pretty big and every seat has a great view. There were maybe 30 of us on the boat. It wasn't too crowded and you have plenty of room to walk around on board without bumping into anyone. Once we found our seat in the front of the boat, we headed to the breakfast table. Breakfast consisted of fresh fruits, muffins, coffee, and water.
Around 8:00am, we started our journey to Lanai. On the way to Lanai we made a few stops to check out the Humpback Whales that were out. Around 9:00am, we came up to our first snorkel site; Coral Gardens. This site is near Club Lanai. We had about 30 minutes in the water to explore the area. This site was okay. Yes, there was pretty coral, some fish, and some turtles that we spotted. Certain areas were clear and other areas were kinda murkey. It was more of a beginners spot for snorkeling the Captain had mentioned.
We continued our journey around Lanai; about a half hour to 45 mins past Manele Bay. The sea caves and cliffs are amazing on that side of the Island. Our 2nd and final snorkel spot was at "Shark Fin" This place was amazing! The pinnacle sticking out of the water, that you snorkel around, is shaped just like a Shark's fin. The water was an amazing blue! This site was way better than the 1st snorkel site we were at. This was more of an advanced snorkel spot they said. You have to swim a little bit to get to "Shark Fin" from the boat. The waves were a little choppy that day; which made the swim a little tough. Spent about 20-30 minutes in the water.
While snorkeling, the crew fired up the grill. Serving hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, cookies and drinks. It was also open bar. The food was great and so was the crew. The crew was always coming around asking if we needed anything through-out our whole trip.
Because it was so windy, we were not able to continue around the entire island like we had planned. We were extremely bummed once we found that out. We really, really wanted to see Ship Wreck Beach. After lunch, we continued our journey back towards Manele Bay where we ran into the Spinner Dolphins. Circled around Manele Bay for a few minutes to enjoy the Dolphins. After the dolphin viewing, we headed back towards Kaanapali Beach. We arrived back at Kaanapali Beach around 2:00pm.
Overall, I enjoyed myself. The crew is friendly, the two on-board bathrooms are nice, food was great and the Shark Fin snorkel spot was amazing. The only dissapointing part was that we did not Circumnavigate the whole island. This was only due to the high winds and waves. Maybe next time I'll get to see Ship Wreck Beach.
I would definitely recommend this company and tour.

Ultimate Rafting Adventure
I went on Ultimate Rafting yesterday. WOW! I've been on all the raft trips, and this one is the best. It is the fastest boat, but not bone jarring, really smooth. It can take 24, but they only take 15, so there is plenty of room to spread out. We got through the channel in record time, then saw a big pod of Spinner Dolphins east of Manele and stopped and played with them for a while as our captain told us all about the species. Then we continued west and snorkeled at Shark Fin before anyone else got there (because the boat is so fast) and were leaving as all the other boats were arriving. Then Eric the captain
took us to a totally private snorkel spot further west than anybody else goes and for those of us who passed the qualifying swim test, guided us underwater into a big air filled, high ceilinged cave! The rest of that snorkel site was filled with fish and eels and colorful coral. We never felt rushed, and Eric and Povi entertained us with stories, legends, chit chat the whole time; very friendly and knowledgeable. They are also very Eco-friendly, explaining why we do and don't do things so people understand.
There was a breakfast of bagels, cream cheese, breads, delicious fruit. Then between sites, veggies with homemade dip. Then ham, turkey and tuna sandwiches & chips for lunch. Cookies and Rice Krispie Treats for dessert. On the way back we saw and hung out with another pod of dolphins, then swung around north of Lahaina to see turtles. You can feel confident if you book Ultimate Rafting through Boss Frog's that you will have a terrific time.
