Kapalua Bay
Snorkel Info:
The water here stays fairly calm throughout most of the year. Occasionally some silt will get kicked up making the visibility not the best, but it is usually still worth snorkeling a little further out. The reef is literally 20 or thirty yards off the beach and is home to numerous colorful fish.
Beach Info:
This is one of the prettiest beaches in Maui. This is a great place to kick back relax and spend a day. Perfect for families, and there is even a little bit of shade if you sit on the grass just off the beach. On the South end of the beach there are stairs heading up to bathrooms and showers to get the sand off.
How to Get Here:
If you head North from Lahaina on Highway 30 you will pass by Ka'anapali and Honokawai. Probably the easiest way to find Kapalua is to turn left (towards the ocean) at the McDonald's in Kahana. Follow this to the end and take a right. You will travel North along Lower Honoapiilani Rd about two miles. Look for the Napili Kai Condos, just past them you will take a left where you see a yellow gate. This is the public parking area, head towards the restrooms and you will see the pathway to Kapalua Bay. If you accidentally pass this turn and get to the shops at Kapalua you will know you have gone too far and need to turn around.
