You’ve seen our testimonials… now see our guests!

We’ve blogged about our testimonials on Trip Advisor for some time now and we’ll continue to do so but today we want to tell you about some an additional service that we have on offer from Carol and Mark Stevens.

You know about Jennifer Johnson and her Maui Below H2o Facebook page where there are great video samples of her work on the Quick Silver. And you’ve seen her Maui Underwater Videographer website and we’d just like to say again what a fantastic addition she is to our great crew!

Today we’re highlighting the work of Carol and Mark Stevens.

Copyright © 2012 NoKa'Oi Maui Photos
Before you ever get on board the Quick Silver, Mark and Carol will take a picture of your group and if you have as good a time as most of our guests, you’ll want to to pick up a few prints to share with your frineds and family to remember this particularly great time you spent together snorkeling, watching whales or enjoying a boat ride just off the paradise we call Maui.

Copyright © 2012 NoKa'Oi Maui PhotosMark and Carol are really good at what they do, taking people who are sometimes barely awake or totally not suspecting a pre-boarding photoshoot and making them look their best in just moments! The Stevens’ then go to their secret laboratory and work their magic! By the time you get off the boat you can get prints right there on the dock!

But in the rush of the day and after all the exercise of snorkeling many people don’t realize or simply forget that you can get prints of your great day online as well. And not just prints, you can get custom coffee mugs, stretched canvas wall hangings,  even T-Shirts with your picture surrounded by the perfected surrounding shots, illustrative of your adventure.

Copyright © 2012 NoKa'Oi Maui Photos So if you’ve been on the Quick Silver in the past year you can still get your prints at the NoKa’Oi Maui Photos monthly thumbnail menus. Click on the month of the year you went and then find the day and browse the prints for… YOU!

Aloha!

The Ilio-holo-i-ka-uaua our hefty friend

This is Ilio-holo-i-ka-uaua, the Hawaiian Monk Seal. If you say it slowly, you can pronounce it just fine. It just takes a little practice.
He or she can be up to 610lbs! That’s pretty big, about as big as a smaller Brown Bear.
Just four seals could make the weight of about one small sports car.
The Ilio-holo-i-ka-uaua is endangered and there may be less than 250 left in the whole world. That’s not what we want though! We want so many more monk seals plying the seas, flipping and flippering and flourishing and full!

For some interesting facts about the monk seal check out Wolfram Alpha’s entry Hawaiian Monk Seal There are also great resources on Wikipedia, and at the Pacific Fish and Wildlife Office of the United states Government. They also have a great list of endangered animals in Hawaii.

Next time you go out on the water, keep your eyes peeled for the Ilio-holo-i-ka-uaua Say: “eely oh – ho low – eek ah -ooh ah ooh ah”. Yeah you can do it.
The pretty monk seal in this video was recorded only yesterday December 7th 2011 off the South Side of Maui, a very lucky site to see.

Aloha!

A Must Do During Your Maui Stay!
If your going to Maui, you should really try this one. My wife doesn’t like to swim all that much, but she loved this! Great crew, very good dive spots, good food and drinks. I will do this again.

And then from  Karen R on November 8th, 2011:

Fabulous trip with great service and top-notch equipment!
The Quicksilver snorkel adventure at Molokini is a terrific way to spend one of your vacation days on Maui. The crew are attentive, friendly and seem genuinely happy to be part of your Maui experience. Captain Allen is full of interesting information about Maui and the island’s wildlife, and he’s clearly dedicated to seeing that everyone on the trip has a safe, great time. The lunch served on the boat was plentiful and tasty. Both dive sites we visited (Molokini and “Turtle Town”) were full of life and great fun. Best yet, the snorkel equipment on the boat is top-notch. We brough our own, but we ended up using the mask and snorkel offered by the crew and they were the best mask and snorkel we’ve ever used.

If you go to Maui and you sign up for a snorkel or dive trip, be sure to go with Capt. Allen and his crew. You won’t regret it, I promise!

Stellar Reviews of Frogman II and Quicksilver are nothing new but new ones keep coming!

Ok, so maybe your tired of hearing all the acclaim we get from our guests.
It’s understandable, we get a lot and we’re keen to admit it. Wouldn’t you be?
We’ve actually been holding back. One day we’ll catch up and list them all!

With great guests like sfitzgibbons on October 16, 2011, who says:

Swimming with spinner dolphins – FABULOUS!
Headed to Molikini – water too rough to snorkel so we headed out to 2nd stop and we swam with 30+ dolphins for over an hour. Absolutely awesome. Great steps that went deep into the water made it very easy to get in/out of the water. Don’t miss this experience!

What would you do on Maui?

I know we are always telling you about our great snorkel charters the Frogman II and Quicksilver which take people on snorkel and dinner cruises but we know these activities aren’t for everyone. That’s why we have several other websites dedicated to getting you the best deals on activities from other companies on Maui, The Big Island, Oahu and Kaui.

There’s so many activities we can’t even fit them all. You’ll have to stop in a store to find out about every one and every sale happening right now. Meanwhile our wesbites have special internet rate sales that can’t be found anywhere else.

There’s Luaus, Dinner Shows, Horseback Rides, Spelunking, Helicoptering, Parasailing, Submarine cruises, zip lining, biking,

We’ve been working hard for years getting you that sweet deal on the best activities Maui has to offer and we’ll continue to do so for as long as we exist.

We can’t wait to take you snorkeling again or set you up on the best activities you’ve ever tried. Try any of our websites and just see for yourself. We look forward to seeing you soon!

No it’s not bragging when our guests say it. Just sayin!

Our guests make us who we are. To be a great company with super friendly crew members takes a lot of hard work and team effort. That’s why we get together and go over feedback and constantly bring ourselves back into focus of our highest priorities. That is your safety and your fun! So when we get a slew of reviews all great and none negative, we can’t help but brag. Just ask one of our crew if our guests ever make them so happy they dance.

SFLompoc_ca from Lompoc,CA made this review about the Quicksilver Snorkeling Cruise (notice the weather was bad and she still loved the cruise.):

“Great experience. Very friendly Crew!”
My daughter and I recently went on the snorkeling trip to Molokini. The crew was very professional and friendly. Molokini was an awesome place to snorkel! The day was cloudy so crew recommended wearing wetsuits. We were glad we did. It helped us stay in the water the whole time. We saw so many beautiful fish and a huge Eel! It was amazing! We really looked forward to seeing the turtles but the weather did not permit as there was no visibility in that area. They did take us on a long boat cruise around the island and showed us many points of interest. Really missed those turtles so will have to go again! The captain and crew were great. You’ll be glad you went on this excursion!

azmelanie from Washington gave us this review about the Quicksilver Snorkeling Cruise:

“Above my Expectations!! Would DEFINITELY recommend!!”
The Quicksilver Snorkeling trip was awesome! From your first step aboard the boat you are made to feel welcome. Captain Allen, First Mate Chris and the rest of the crew are professional, proficient and fun! Your day begins with coffee, water, fruit and mini muffins while you choose where you want to hang out on the boat. It is 2-levels with some seating in full shade and others full sun. My 19-year-old niece and I chose full sun. Although the boat was full, about 122 passengers plus crew, you didn’t have the feeling that it was crowded. The boat was spotless, the food good and the gear top notch. Masks, fins, snorkels were all included as was the light breakfast and lunch. Pulled pork sandwiches, chicken breasts, macaroni salad and more. The lunch was very good and had the feeling of being homemade…like you were being taken care of by friends. If you wanted to you could rent wetsuits and/or underwater cameras or purchase a video starring you for the day.
We snorkeled for one hour at Molokini Crater, one hour at Turtle Town and then enjoyed a scenic cruise. Cannot say enough about the crew!! They were constantly checking in with everyone making sure you were enjoying yourself, getting you drinks, etc. I would HIGHLY recommend this snorkel trip aboard the Quicksilver, especially with Captain Allen and crew. Thanks for a great day!!

Maui, not a summer destination?

Next week... what people do on Maui in the Summer

Next week, we'll feature some fun Summer activities for Maui

Almost everyone loves Hawaii and Maui in the winter, it’s true. Conde Naste has voted Maui the best island in the world many many years over, more than any other island. And it’s no surprise that people flock here in the winter, escaping the doldrums of living indoors during the winter. But what about the summer? Indeed… Isn’t Hawaii brutally oppressive in July and August being so close to the equator? Lets take a closer look at the climate and weather of Maui – next week we’ll see what exactly there is to do here in the summer.

Maui’s climate is generally temperate. This means that during our two yearly seasons of “Summer” and “Not Quite Summer” the temperature at sea level doesn’t often vary from an approximate 65 – 95 degrees. True, some years do find us getting above 100 degrees in late August or early September and it is fairly humid here. Desert people may not last long, drowning in the moist tropical air or they may love the temporary change from their normally cracked skin climate. In the winter, Kula can see temperatures as low as 40-45 degrees, especially in November and February.

Besides temperature, Maui’s seasons generally differ in two other ways. Wind varies greatly on Maui depending on time of year and location and some parts of August and September can be incredibly still causing temperatures to rise. Summer trade winds blowing (sometimes in excess of 30 MPH), decrease moisture but also keep the temperature down. Rainfall also depends on season and location. Usually a tropical depression will bring heavy (and warm) rain for a few days in September or October. For the most part winter is the wet season, especially December and January.

Are Frogman II and Quicksilver snorkel cruises the funnest on Maui?

Well we’re going to have to leave that to you.

Lots of people tell us that is definitely the case though we’re not sure which is really better. Our whole team is super positive and proactively seeks your enjoyment on every snorkel cruise. That’s why we consistently get rave reviews.

Here’s a couple of images that show a tiny portion of the many beautiful wonders you can expect to see on a Boss Frog’s Snorkel Trip.

They were taken by Kyle Pang Ching. We’re saving a really superior, amazing image from him for just before whale season. Why? Its what he saw when he was in the water snorkeling just feet from two humpbacks. But we won’t ruin the surprise stay tuned fro that image in November.

Thanks Kyle, we love your snaps and we hope more people will upload their snaps at Boss Frog’s Facebook page… Sharing snorkel pics is almost as fun as snorkeling! Almost.

Why does The Quicksilver Maui Snorkel Cruise have a 94% approval rating with 169 reviews?

Breaching Whale says YES to Quicksilver Snorkel Cruise! We’d say we’d like to know the same thing but we do know why. And we calculate our high approval rating is even higher. The people with the most motivation to even bother to review on tripadvisor are people who are displeased, so to have 94% glowing reviews is like saying we have 99.99% satisfaction and an overwhelming number of people who bother to mention us, do so because they are so impressed. We work very hard for that, we are committed to your fun, excitement and enjoyment of one of the worlds most beautiful habitats. Our employees are the best Maui has to offer and we thanks every one of them for pitching in with their best effort to bring our business to this level of excellence. Thanks Frogs! and ALOHA!

DoxieMamaDeb from Washington gave us this review about Quicksilver Snorkeling Cruise:

“This is THE tour to take whether you are an enthusiastic snorkeler or just along for the ride!”
Included in this tour: continental breakfast, wetsuits & gear, a fabulous barbeque lunch (yes, even for vegetarians!), and lots of fun watching whales, turtles and a variety of sea life under the surface. This crew really knows what they are doing, they are friendly, funny, and full of fascinating historical, geographic, and biological info about Maui and the surrounding islands and waters. This is a big craft–the better to provide a smooth ride, and accommodate your every need. We were comfortable the whole time, enjoyed the crew and other passengers, and had a wonderful tour, starting with a mama and baby whale breaching in the sunshine, lots of swimming and snorkeling with the local marine life (looking for a sense of inner peace? try snorkeling here!), and ending with a lot of humorous banter and a scenic tour of the Maalea coastal area. REALLY WORTHWHILE!
Aloha !
